THOUGHT For the Month

When we speak God hears us, when we pray God listens.
Our prayers are always answered but not always in the way we expect.

Prayer Request FormWe are a caring, sharing church family and we invite you to share your thoughts and concerns with us by making a Prayer Request.

"God understands every human language. Remaining close to him in silence is already prayer: your lips remain closed but your heart is speaking to him. And, by the Holy Spirit, Christ prays in you more than you can imagine."
Brother Roger of Taizé

Thought for the Month

When Jesus was born, Mary wrapped him strips of cloth and laid him in a manger.

There were some shepherds in that part of the country, who were spending the night in the fields, taking care of their flocks. An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone over them. They were terribly afraid, but the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people. This very day in David’s town your Saviour was born - Christ the Lord! And this is what will prove it to you; You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger”

Suddenly a great army of heaven’s angels appeared with the angel, singing praises to God. “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased!”

When the angels went away from them, back into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and saw the baby lying in the manger. When the shepherds saw him, they told them what the angel had said about the child. All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said.

Heavenly Father, as we approach this special time of the year when we celebrate the birth of your son Jesus Christ, we say thank you for our lives, and all you have given us in this beautiful but troubled world. We celebrate our freedom to worship you, with no fear. We think of all those who are hurting, the lonely, homeless, grieving, frightened, cold, hungry, sick, or dying, and ask that you will be known to them and bring them comfort and your love. May we live in the way that Jesus taught us, and know you are with us always.

We praise you mightily our Lord and Saviour.   Amen

"Prayer is a serene force at work within human beings, stirring them up, transforming them, never allowing them to close their eyes in the face of evil, of wars, of all that threatens the weak of this world. From it we draw energy to wage other struggles - to enable our loved ones to survive, to transform the human condition, to make the earth a fit place to live in."
