Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

1954 - “May you be proud to remember – as I am myself – how much depends on you that even when your life seems most monotonous, what you do is always of real value and importance to your fellow men.”

Revelation 7:9-10 (11-17)
After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.  They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.  And they cried out in a loud voice:  “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”

1955 - "But we belong, you and I, to a far larger family.  We belong, all of us, to the British Commonwealth and Empire, that immense union of nations, with their homes set in all the four corners of the earth.  Like our own families, it can be a great power for good a force which I believe can be of immeasurable benefit to all humanity."

1940’s - Service

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

In 1939 Princess Elizabeth gave this quote to her father for his Christmas Day speech.
"I said to the man who stood at the Gate of the Year
'Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.'
And he replied, “Go out into the darkness, and put your hand into the hand of God.
That shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way."

Ephesians 2:(1-3) 4-10
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

1968 - "Yet we should not be obsessed by material problems.  We must also be sure that we remain spiritually alive.  Everything we do now is helping to shape the world in which our children are going to live."

1970's - Family

Ephesians 3:14-16
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit.

1978 - "Christians have the compelling example of the life and  teaching of Christ and, for myself, I would like nothing more than that my grandchildren should hold dear his ideals which have helped and inspired so many previous generations."

1980's - Garden Parties

Philippians 2:8
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

1986 - "His life thus began in humble surroundings, in fact in a stable, but he was to have a profound influence on the course of history, and on the lives of generations of his followers.  You don't have to be rich or powerful in order to change things for the better and each of us in our own way can make a contribution."

Matthew 22:37-40
Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’   All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

1999 -"This message love thy neighbour as thyself may be for Christians 2,000 years old.  But it is as relevant today as it ever was.  I believe it gives us the guidance and the reassurance we need as we step over the threshold into the twenty-first century."

2000's - Remembrance

Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

2001 - "I know just how much I rely on my own faith to guide me through the good times and the bad.  Each day is a new beginning, I know that the only way to live my life is to try to do what is right, to take the long view, to give of my best in all that the day brings, and to put my trust in God."

2 Corinthians 5:19
God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

2015  “For me, the life of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, whose birth we celebrate today, is an inspiration and an anchor in my life.  A role-model of reconciliation and forgiveness, he stretched out his hands in love, acceptance and healing.  Christ’s example has taught me to seek to respect and value all people of whatever faith or none.”

The front window facing Palace Avenue has been decorated by Roy and Rosemary M.
The window facing Tower Road,
by the hall, has been decorated by Penny A. and Ken F.
